In the air again, on the way from Charlotte back to Denver. We had a tire test on Tuesday (trying new tires for Good Year) and an open test today to gather information for the races in Charlotte (I believe mid to end of May?). The tire test didn’t go well at all, the data system worked terribly and we aren’t at all sure why. Got it going by middle afternoon but still wasted a lot of time and didn’t collect the data we hoped to. Today went better, although the lap beacon (that splits the data up into individual laps) still wasn’t working. Ah well, not much to do about it now.
In between we stayed at a great Embassy hotel that’s really close to the track, and apparently that’s where we always stay in Charlotte (go Hilton Honors account!).
Tuesday night Martin (our driver) invited us to his place for dinner. His house is probably a half hour or so from the track, and it was spectacular! He has an infinity pool that looks right onto lake Norman, and a really nice garage with a little machine shop where he builds his own R/C boats for which he has several world records.
And that’s about it really. Tomorrow I will fly to Phoenix which should be smoking hot, looking forward to seeing some red rocks! I did get myself a car on Tuesday as well, it’s a red 2013 Scion FR-S, a great little car for me. I am looking forward to my drive home from the airport!
